Founder & President

I am Dr. Carl J. Kinzel, a board-certified doctor of family practice. My family and I have lived in Battle Creek since 2011. Two of my four sons were born here. All four will graduate high school here. This is where we call home, made roots, and we want to make a positive change in our community.

There are so many great projects currently going on in this town, many raising money for cancer awareness. However, my wife and I realized that there is nothing established to help people once they have the diagnosis of cancer. This is why we created the idea of Battle Cancer, an event designed to involve the whole community in a fund-raising project in the heart of downtown Battle Creek.

My goal is to help cancer survivors pay for medical bills and personal needs. Car loans, mortgage payments, food, utilities, life in general. We need to be able to treat the person, not just the disease.

I have created my own 501(c)(3) foundation, Battle Cancer Community Alliance. Our board takes requests for financial assistance from cancer survivors, and monies are paid directly to the billing company. My team and I campaign and raise funds all year to support this work. Every penny collected stays in Calhoun County, helping our friends and neighbors.

As our slogan says, “Our town, our fight!” I sincerely hope you will consider joining us in this work, however you can. Donate, sponsor, ride, volunteer, or simply share our story. Every action makes a difference for a survivor in our community.

Simul meliores sumus. Together we are better.
